Do you have cardboard boxes lying around not knowing what to do with them? If you have a baby at home, why not make this super simple Ribbon Box for your little one! This easy to make activity provided hours of entertainment for my 10 month old goddaughter, Imogen.

To make the ribbon box, I used a large cardboard box, different coloured ribbons and sticky tape. The ribbon was from a local craft store. Simply place the ribbon along the tape and attach to the top of the box.

When Imogen saw the box set up, she crawled over and began to run her fingers through the ribbons. She loved to pull and grab at the ribbons, pull them from side to side and shake them around in her hands.

While this activity may look quite simple, there is so much learning involved for babies. As Imogen engaged with the ribbon box, she was developing her reaching and grasping skills, gross and fine motor control, knowledge of cause and effect, and was learning to track objects with her eyes as she watched the ribbons move because of her actions. So many skills being practiced while having a whole heap of fun!

Adult supervision was present at all times. If you do this activity at home, please ensure close supervision due to the risk of ribbons being a choking/strangulation hazard.
